How to reduce PDF file size online

You need to email a PDF report with images, but it exceeds the attachment limit. Check the recipient’s file size limit, then try compressing your own PDF.

  1. Open the PDF compressor, select a PDF from your device, and check its original file size.

  2. Select Compress PDF. The tool optimizes the PDF’s structure in your browser and keeps images at their original resolution.

  3. Compare the resulting file size with the limit. If the file is smaller and fits, download that copy and open it to check that the pages are readable and complete before you send it.

Check the result

If the size stays the same, keep the original. Scanned images often account for most of a scan’s file size. If you can scan the document again, try a lower resolution and check that small text stays readable before saving.
