How to convert a PDF to editable Word

Convert a sample quote to DOCX and check the editable text, column alignment and totals. Learn when scanned pages need OCR.

Try the sample in the tool

Work through the sample

Turn a quote into a document a colleague can revise. The built-in sample is a digital PDF with selectable text, so it is a good first test of the conversion.

  1. Open the PDF to Word tool and choose the sample PDF. Check that it appears in the workspace.

  2. Convert it, then download the DOCX and open it in Word or a compatible editor. Downloads use the tool quota shown on the page.

  3. Try changing the delivery line. Compare the items and amounts with the source PDF, including the alignment and the final total.

Check the result

For your own files, try selecting a sentence in the original PDF. If it is an image, conversion needs OCR to recognize the text. Check numbers, dates and small print in the output. Complex tables, multiple columns and blurry scans may need manual adjustment.
